Chicagoans, get ready for a spooky celebration with local bands Space Gators and The Tomblands. At this exclusive Halloween show, the groups will perform in Avondale venue Sleeping Village on Oct. 31.
Space Gators are a pure product of Chicago’s music scene. The band released some of their first music in 2019, with singles “Is It Right? Is It Wrong?” and “Nice Little Saturday Morning” as one of their most popular tracks. These songs each came with their own music video, and Space Gators included both of the pre-released singles on their first LP.
Space Gators’ debut album is also their most recent. The nine-track record dropped in 2020, titled Intergalactic Swamp Songs. In 2021, they released a video for their rendition of The Specials’ “Ghost Town,” which may be just haunting enough to appear on their 2022 Halloween show setlist.
The Tomblands are too a Chicago group, though they assembled in Urbana-Champaign. Four years after their Southern Illinois inception in 2014, The Tomblands found a new home base at the Windy City. The band currently consists of five members: Liam Burns, Nick Layton and Danny Urbana, Jimmy Kowalczyk, Joey Buttlar and John Herrin.
2019 saw The Tomblands’ debut EP Gnaw, accompanied by a music video for “Glutton.” The band produced their most recent EP Butcher Boy in 2021, with pre-released singles “Give Us All Your Money” and “Freak Mode Engage.” Additionally, some of their most popular tracks include “#1 Summer Jam” and “Cheeseburger In Paradise” from the 2020 EP Fall In Love. “Cheeseburger In Paradise” inspired a charming music video filmed all over the Chicagoland area, demonstrating their dedication to the city.
Spend October’s final hours witnessing Space Gators and The Tomblands on the most fright-filled night of the year. This Halloween evening, the source of your chills will be from good music instead of ghouls. Use etix..com to purchase tickets for the Sleeping Village show, or pay the same price at the door.
