Been around since the 90’s and/or love indie rock? Then I need no intro. Let’s Go!
For fans of Circa Survive, Silversun Pickups, Allison Weiss, Minus The Bear, and yes Dinosaur Jr.; Built To Spill comes to San Francisco this November 30th/December 1st. Having just under half a million monthly listeners on Spotify, most of them live in or near Chicago, Illinois at 13.3 thousand, Los Angeles at 13.2 thousand, Seattle at 12.2 thousand, New York City reaching 10.4 thousand, and then Brooklyn at 8.9 thousand.
For those of you (like me) who are unfamiliar with Built To Spill, they make music that is very typical of the indie rock genre, happy times, happy chill guitar, nice easy listening vocals etc etc. So ya these guys sound chill yet happy and probably write lyrics about going to pick up milk and bread from the corner store and then stopping at the bar to hang with friends. Dude that is literally every indie rock song ad nauseum. LOL
These guy had their start in Idaho (which I heard is a great place to live in, compared to California and man do I believe it) anyway it started with a man named DOUGEY D IN DA HOWZ jk lol he just goes by Doug Martsch. Mr. Martsch (lol that rhymes) got signed with Warner Brothers in the golden age of Hip-Hop; the mid 90s, due to his success with There’s Nothing Wrong With Love. Their sophomore album comprised of thirteen songs with big hits like Big Dipper (4.9 million Spotify plays), Car (3.6 million plays), and Distopian Dream Girl (3.2 million plays).
If you want to learn way more about this vintage group, You can head to the aforementioned Spotify link and read the bio at the bottom. Dude it’s like a hoping TEN paragraphs. Like bruh who’s gunna read ten meaty whopping blocks of text on Spotify of all places? You are cuz you’re obsessed with this band and you’re a hipster L E L. *thug life*
