On Oct. 8, legends KMFDM will perform in Chicago. The band plays at one of the city’s most popular concert venues, the Metro. Chant plans to join as the opener for KMFDM’s approaching performance.
The band produced an album in Sept. 2022, making it their latest LP, which will likely inspire the show’s set list. As their most recent release, HYËNA was met with favorable reviews. One of the most popular songs from the album shares its name, titled “HYËNA.” Prior to the latest album, KMFDM released 2019 LP Paradise. The period between HYËNA and Paradise was the band’s longest period between two album releases, except during their hiatus.
KMFDM assembled in 1984, the same year they released their debut album Opium. The German band’s acronym name stands for Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid, which loosely means “No Pity For The Majority.” They have roots in Chicago and joined the city’s industrial rock music scene in 1991. During that period of their career, KMFDM released one of their most popular albums Xtort in 1996. Three years later, they disbanded until 2002. In total, they’ve released 22 albums since their formation in the ’80s, not including live albums.
Catch KMFDM’s return to the city with opening band Chant. Hosted by Chicago’s Metro, the bands are set to perform on Oct. 8. Tickets are available for purchase at Metrochicago.com.
