In early October, Cigarettes After Sex come to the Windy City for their upcoming performance. The trio’s show will take place on Oct. 7, as Chicago’s historical Riviera Theatre is set to host the band.
Cigarettes After Sex produced their sophomore studio album Cry in 2019. As their most recent LP, the group will likely play tracks from the album at their upcoming show. Cry includes singles “Falling In Love” and “Heavenly.” Their most recent release though is a dreamy, non-album single titled “You’re All I Want,” produced in 2020 and likely to make an appearance at the show. Known for their music’s slow-paced indie pop quality, concert attendees can expect Cigarettes After Sex to create a hypnotic atmosphere onstage.
Hailing from El Paso, Texas, the band assembled in 2008. Founded by guitarist and vocalist Greg Gonzalez, Cigarettes After Sex currently features members Randall Miller on bass and Jacob Tomsky on drums. In addition to Cry, the group produced their self-titled debut album Cigarettes After Sex in 2017. Both LPs climbed charts internationally, and Cigarettes After Sex single “Apocalypse” specifically earned gold certification in the U.S. Their first release was 2012 EP I., followed by 2015 Affection. Cigarettes After Sex’s album art is recognizable due to the covers’ exclusive use of black and white color palettes. This has created a consistent aesthetic throughout their career and matches the intimacy of their sound.
