Zedd, also known as Anton Zaslavski, was born in Saratov, Russia in 1989. Growing up in Kaiserslautern, Germany, he started learning piano at only four years old. Zedd eventually left piano and picked up the drums. By the early 2000s, he was playing in the German metalcore band Dioramic. In an interview with Billboard, he revealed that the group would often “skip class to tour” in his teenage years. He later left the band in 2012 due to personal reasons, but clearly proved himself to the music industry as he later signed with Interscope Records that same year. Around this time he also took on the stage name Zedd ( as in “z”, the last letter of the alphabet ) that the world knows so well and loves today.
Zedd’s first album release with his label turned out to be #1 charting dance song “Spectrum”, which succeeded his breakthrough 2010 remix of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites”, that initially helped him introduce himself as an electro/dance DJ. Included in his debut album was also, “Clarity” featuring English singer Foxes. Boosted by his single “Stay the Night” with Paramore vocalist Hailey Williams, Clarity achieved U.S. Top Ten status and even won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. His bodies of work include working with notable artists such as Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Justin Beiber and more.
