Evan & Zane Impeccably Execute ‘Jagged Little Pill’ At Hollywood’s Bourbon Room For A Big Return To The Stage

Evan and Zane returned to the stage with a big bang for the first time since 2019. The duo performed Alanis Morissette’s iconic album, Jagged Little Pill, in its entirety pouring their soul onto the Bourbon Room’s stage in Hollywood, California last night.

Ahead of their debut album, Dream, set to be released this Friday, Sept. 2, actress Evan Rachel Wood and guitarist Zane Carney returned to the stage for the first time in three years. The duo kicked-off their Los Angeles residency at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood with their chosen theme of Jagged Little Pill. The duo performed the album in its entirety, channeling Morissette’s intensity and passion throughout the set.

The night began with an incredible and fun performance by James Byous, who truly pumped the crowd with his song “Bad Motherfucker” and lively personality. The jampacked venue ecstatically welcomed Evan and Zane as they walked on stage, Evan immediately bowing to the Jagged Little Pill’s album artwork displayed as the stage’s background.

The show quickly turned into a sing-along as Evan’s impeccable voice sang “You Oughta Know.” The entire audience passionately sang along with Evan throughout the song, “wow, we really needed that!” said Evan amazed by the crowd’s reaction. “[Morissette] knew what she was doing on song 2 of the album, what a hit! And there’s hit after hit!”

Evan and Zane shared some anecdotes about the album and why it’s always a favorite. Zane mentioned how his brother, Reeve Carney, played the album while they watched a football game, a completely random moment that changed him. Evan recalled a moment she shared with her mother being stuck in the car with a broken radio, only able to listen to a single cassette tape, which happened to be Jagged Little Pill, on repeat.

Evan’s voice is quite out-of-this-world. She truly poured her soul in every note, radiating an immense emotion throughout the album, particularly during “Right Through You” and “Hand In My Pocket.” Evan recalled her car anecdote once again mentioning not being able to hit the high notes in some of the songs, “look at me now mom!” she yelled as her mother sat front row with a proud expression on her face. Also, for someone who claims not to know how to play the harmonica, Evan is incredibly gifted at it.

Zane left the crowd awestruck with insane guitar solos throughout the set. It’s extraordinary when musicians allow themselves to fully express their passion and set the vibe in the atmosphere. Zane did just that as he allowed the music to flow through him, having a religious experience on stage during one of his solos.

The night concluded with the final song of the album an a capella of “Your House.” The entire audience gave a standing ovation to the duo for their truly extraordinary performance.

Evan and Zane are sincerely great artists to see perform live, they truly know how to make the audience feel apart of their energy and put on a terrific show. The duo is set to continue their LA residency at the Bourbon Room in Hollywood on the last Tuesday of every month. The next two shows are already nearly sold out and have the themes of “Dance” and “Colors.” Let’s hope they continue the LA residency with more shows at the intimate venue in Hollywood.
