Roxy Music is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 by Bryan Ferry, who became the band’s lead singer, primary songwriter, and bass guitarist, Graham Simpson. The other members were Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay, and Paul Thompson. Although the band took a break from group activities in 1976 and again in 1983, they decided to reunite for a concert tour in 2001 and toured together again for a few years.
Roxy Music became successful in Europe and Australia during the 1970s. Their success began with their self-titled debut album in 1972. The band made more sophisticated music using elements of glam rock while significantly influencing early English punk music, and influenced other musicians.
This band is well known for its distinctive brand of visual and musical sophistication with its focus on glamorous fashions. Rolling Stone originally ranked Roxy Music No. 98 on their greatest artists list.
The final studio album Roxy music has was called Avalon, and it was certified as a platinum studio album in the United States.
