Evanescence’s Amy Lee Joins Korn Onstage To Perform “Freak On A Leash” In Denver

On August 16, the Evanescence frontwoman and vocalist Amy Lee joined legendary metal act Korn to perform their 1998 hit “Freak on a Leash” at a show in Denver, Colorado, The Tuesday show marks the kicking off of Korn and Evanescence’s joint tour, where they will play 18 cities, including Denver, Houston, Dallas and Salt Lake City.

A fan-recording of the performance of “Freak on a Leash” was uploaded to YouTube by user FirstRowConcert, with the camerawork focusing on the duet of Amy Lee and Korn frontman Jonathan Davis. Throughout their performance, the extreme contrast of vocal styles is laid bare, with the anxious and deeper style of Davis creating a beautiful interaction with Lee’s higher ranged countermelodies.

This Denver show was not the first time that Amy Lee joined the nu-metal outfit to perform the 1998 track; in 2007, Amy Lee joined Korn to perform the same track on their MTV Unplugged show. Both performances can be watched via YouTube below.

Speaking on the decision to tour with Korn, Amy Lee is quoted by Blabbermouth explaining that “I fell hard into KORN‘s music in high school. It was an inspiration during the formation of my own band. The chances we’ve had to play together over the years are special, a part of our history. They remain one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. It’s an honor and a thrill to go out with our friends again, our first full tour together since ’07. We’re all really looking forward to this.”

Korn are currently touring in promotion of their newest album, Requiem, released in February. Recently, Evanescence have had multiple changes in their lineup, including their replacement of guitarist Jen Majura with Tim McCord.
