Metric: The Doomscroller Tour in Austin,TX

Metric will be in Austin, Texas next September 30th.

The Rock band Metric was formed in 1998 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada when vocalist/keyboardist Emily Haines met guitarist James Shaw.  The band members are Emily Haines, James Shaw, Josh Winstead, and Joules Scott-Key. The band name was inspired by a sound called “Metric” that was programmed by Shaw on his keyboard.

During a trip to Montreal, Haines and Shaw started recording demos of the material that would become Metric’s debut EP, Mainstream after its release in 1998, Haines and Shaw ended up moving to Brooklyn, New York, and would collaborate occasionally. Haines and Shaw were found by representatives of major music publisher. The music publisher sent them to London so that Haines and Shaw could work with a music producer called Stephen Hague.

A fun fact about Metric is that their music was part of a movie. Metric scored a prime spot on the Grammy-nominated soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse with the theme song “Eclipse (All Yours).”  In addition, In 2011, the band collaborated with Academy Award-winning film composer Howard Shore on the soundtrack for David Cronenberg‘s adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel Cosmopolis. The movie premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
