Levitation Announces 2022 Lineup Featuring King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, The Black Angels, The Jesus and Mary Chain and More

Levitation is set to return to downtown Austin, Texas this Halloween weekend for a four-day celebration of vintage psychedelia mixed with latter-day experimentation across genres. The first round of performers has been confirmed, well in tune with the festival’s tradition of featuring a broad range of sounds and styles.

Over the years, Levitation has curated lineups that exhibit psych, punk, indie, metal, darkwave and electronic music, and this year is no different. The Jesus and Mary Chain will headline the opening night with catalog that spans nearly four decades and multiple phases, from post-punk to noise pop. Australian rock band King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, who have frequented the festival previously, will take the next two nights. Event founders and Austin natives Black Angels will then play the concluding set the following day.

The leadup to each headlining act is nothing short of spectacular. Viagra Boys and Shame will play back-to-back co-headlining spots on Friday and Saturday whereas San Francisco psych-punk outfit Osees will be performing on all four nights! The card will also feature Brazilian rock icons Os Mutantes, Zamrock legends W.I.T.C.H, Los Angeles grunge pioneers L7 and Canadian post-rock titans Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Other artists performing this year include Cold Cave, Protomartyr, OFF!, La Femme, Sunflower Bean, Superorganism, Hunx & His Punx, Lebanon Hanover, Automatic, Warm Drag, Heartless Bastards, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, She Past Away, A Giant Dog and more.

Levitation 2022 will take place from October 27 – 30. Tickets are available here.
