Lady Gaga Shares Cinematic New Song And Video “Hold My Hand”

The Academy Award-winning singer and songwriter Lady Gaga just released her newest single titled “Hold My Hand.” The single is for the new action-packed movie Top Gun: Maverick– a film about the life of a pilot starring Tom Cruise. As the film releases in May 27, a sneak peak of the soundtrack is out. “Hold My Hand”, however was just released today. The artist has been working on the song for years, according to Pitchfork

In the track, Lady Gaga continues to not disappoint, as it starts right off with the queen of pop singing a slow yet powerful song about hope. The first verse starts off with a message from Lady Gaga to a loved on, begging to help them out and be a part of their journey; to never hesitate to reach out. Then, a beat drops, and Lady Gaga readies her audience with a powerful chorus. She gives it her all, yelling that it’s ok to feel, “You can cry every last tear. I won’t leave ’til I understand.”

The music video itself is just as powerful. It starts off with a cinematic shot from the movie, and cuts to Lady Gaga in a beautiful black and white shot, leaning on an airplane. Each cutaway to a scene from the movie correlates to the next shot of Lady Gaga- as Tom Cruise’s character leaves a garage on a motorcycle, Lady Gaga is seen a stunning piano on the road. Towards the end of the video, as the gets to her last chorus, a plane flies directly above her, shining shivers down viewers back- a true celebration of the movie.
