Frank Zappa’s Estate Announces New Zappa/Erie Six-Disc Box Set For June 2022 Release

The career and honor of legendary American musician Frank Zappa is now finally being praised through a celebratory collection. Introducing Zappa/Erie, a six disc/digital music collection that includes seven hours of unreleased live performances from the king himself in Erie, Pennsylvania, along with three other lineups who were also praised at the era. The boxed collection, produced by Zappa Records/UMe, holds 71 tracks, but only 10 minutes has been released to the public: Through Zappa’s 1974 classic live album, Roxie and Elsewhere. The collection is set to release officially by June 3.

Zappa/Erie was worked by the Zappa Family Trust and Ahmet Zappa (Frank Zappa’s son). The set includes liner notes from Erie, Pennsylvania journalist Dan Schell, who is the author of “9 Years Of Rock: The Story Of The Concerts At The Erie County Fieldhouse,” The liners include photos of Zappa, photos of the original tapes, concert fliers from the original shows and a newspaper review of one of the shows.

Fans can now pre-order the Zappa/Erie collection exclusively via the Zappa website, where you can also get other Zappa-related items, such as the 50th anniversary collection of Zappa’s 1971 live album The Mothers, and the 50th anniversary collection historical album 200 Motels, which comes with never-before-heard documentaries, interviews and studio outtakes-along with a 16-page booklet and movie poster of remastered film. Without the poster in the boxed set, fans can also pre-order the collection on April 22.
