Black Star Announces New Album No Fear Of Time For May 2022 Release

If you were a fan of the all-star rap duo Mos Def and Talib Kweli from their 1997 class debut album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star, then you will be pleased to find out that the pair, in their group Black Star, are back. Although Black Star released a number of hits, with their latest single being “Automatic” last year, the team has only released one album. But, since 2018, Mos Def and Talib Kweli have been finally teasing their newest addition, even showing fans a preview of new music last year. As of today, April 8, the new album titled No Fear of Time has been announced. The album is scheduled to be released early next month, May 3, through the podcasting platform Luminary. DJ Madlib has produced the entire album.

Talib Kweli has more to say upon the creation of album. According to BrooklynVegan, Talib Kweli flew out to Europe to meet with Mos Def in person 3-4 years ago to talk about potential songs to write for the album. Finally one day at a hotel, while listening to Madlib beats, they sparked something, “‘Play that Madlib tape again.’ I’m playing the beats and he starts doing rhymes to the beats. And that’s how we did the first song.” Talib Kweli states. Interestingly, he also mentions that the entire album was not recorded in a studio, but hotel rooms and backstage at David Chappelle concerts. This will mark the duo’s first album in 24 years since Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star
