Nathaniel Glover. a member of one of the earliest pioneering acts in hip-hop, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, has finally received his verdict on the his accusation of killing homeless man in 2017. On April 6, Pitchfork reported that Glover, also known by his stage name Kidd Creole, was found guilty on the count of manslaughter in the first degree. In 2017, Glover was arrested after stabbing 55 year old John Jolly, a stranger to Glover, to death in New York City.
In a statement, New York Country District Attorney Alvin Bragg described Glover’s action as a “shocking act of violence,” going on to explain the significance of Glover’s conviction: “This conviction makes clear my office will hold people who commit violent crime accountable to the full extent of the law. I thank the members of the jury for their attention to this case and careful deliberation. I also applaud our prosecutors, whose diligence and tireless effort to ensure justice led to this conviction.” Glover concludes by promising that he and his colleagues in law enforcement “will continue to use every tool at our disposal to deliver the safe streets and communities that New Yorkers deserve.”
According to Pitchfork, a police report has concluded that Glover stabbed John Jolly twice on August 1, prior to fleeing the scene to his workplace in order to dispose of the evidence: changing his clothes and disposing of the knife into a sewer. Jolly was then discovered by passerby and taken to the hospital, and was then declared dead.
