Renowned pirate metal act Alestorm has finally given fans more details about their anticipated forthcoming album, Seventh Rum Of A Seventh Rum. The release date for the new project has now been set at June 24. In promotion of the upcoming album, Alestorm have released a new single from the project, titled “Magellan’s Expedition,” along with a music video.
In their new single, Alestorm show off the same triumphant and energetic sound that has made the pirate metal band famous. The joyful energy of the song culminates in its chorus, where we hear the band sing “No fear of death, We’ll fight to the very last breath, To sail through the strait, I know it’s my fate, To chart a new course to the West,” The music video for “Magellan’s Expedition” is as explosive as ever, showing the band playing in an area filled with fire and stone, alongside such delightful sights as a rubber duck shooting lasers out of its eyes and being shot at by a woman with an assault rifle. A Napalm Records press release from the band explains that Alestorm spent two years in lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic to create their newest album. In the new record, the band has promised the most epic and serious (compared to their previous albums) sound yet, offering their best priate metal anthems to date. The project proports to satisfy both fans of the band’s older and newer work, offering both songs that emphasize technicality and riffing and songs that fit the band’s classic party mood.
