Mike Watt, Color Green, John Vanderslice, & More Perform at Org Music’s Holiday Party

Org Music, a U.S.- based record label, hosted their Christmas holiday party with special performances by legendary bassist Mike Watt, Color Green, John Vanderslice, and more on Saturday, December 11th. Org Music’s holiday party was hosted at the historic venue The Airliner in Lincoln Heights for a night filled with drinks and non-stop music.

Upon arrival, guests were greeted outside and asked for proof of COVID-19 vaccinations before entering the venue. Guests walked through the dim-lit bar to access one of the most beautiful patios which hosted Org Music’s pop-up record and merchandise sale. The patio also included tables and seating areas for guests to enjoy while socializing between intermissions. The upper balcony included the DJ booth where DJs such as Total Heat, Spaceface, Chris Carey, and DJ Anne B from KLOS performed all night long.

Behind the DJs was the entrance to a small intimate venue on the second floor of The Airliner. The event space included a small bar where guests could purchase drinks while enjoying the live performances from some of their favorite Org Music artists, or even drink alongside the artists. The cozy venue was illuminated by a glowing disco ball hung in front of the small stage.

Roughly about 8:00 p.m. John Vanderslice opened the show, replacing Pluralone who had to cancel to focus on working on an upcoming record. Nevertheless, Vanderslice was a great opener as he kept the crowd entertained with his beautiful voice singing about a dead bunny and answering anonymous personal questions. Not only did Vanderslice gift the audience the delight of experiencing his live musical performance, but he engaged with the crowd with countless stories that made the show just that much more intimate and special.

As the room went dark, Mike Watt and The Missingmen stormed the stage with an exploding sound as they went full throttle with insane guitars and smashing drums. Guitarist Tom Watson and drummer Raul Morales carefully followed Mike Watt’s spontaneous lead for a perfectly synchronized performance. The group amped up the crowd with their intense performance which had many fans dancing in the crowd.

Org Music’s newly signed group Color Green transported the audience back to the 70s not only with their attire but with their grooving sound. The cosmic folk-rock group carries an incredible sound which was showcased in their live performance of their latest single “So Far Behind.” Almost an hour later, Sugar Candy Mountain took the stage after facing technical issues while setting up their stage. Their mellow sound is a bit like Wolf Alice, but with a desert-rock twist.

Nevertheless, Org Music’s holiday event was a great night with drinks and overall, a great ambiance for fans to bond over music and enjoy the night with some of their favorite artists.
