Album Review: Bullet For My Valentine – Bullet For My Valentine

Sensational metal

English band Bullet For My Valentine is known for shaking people’s souls with their righteous heavy metal, and earlier this month, the band released their self-titled record Bullet For My Valentine. Matt Tuck’s vocals dominate each track with strong rage; the guitar playing from Tuck (rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar) and Jamie Mathias (bass) shakes the speakers with vein-jolting riffs. The drum playing from Jason Bowld contributes to the havoc with thunderous drum beats. Bullet For My Valentine still knows how to create chaos with their music.

The sizzling track “Knives” has a killer vocal performance by Tuck and what is enjoyable about this tune is Tuck’s screaming vocals. There are a lot of high-strung emotions on this tune by how Tuck’s vocals capture the feelings he has inside of himself. It is nice to hear how Tuck has not lost his touch as a vocalist, and on “Knives,” Tuck proves he can still shake listeners’ minds with his voice.

The total mind-shaking song “My Reverie” bleeds metal music, showcasing powerful guitar playing from Tuck and Paget. Right off the bat, the rhythm and lead guitar emerge from the background with harmonic notes that switch to fast-paced riffs. The chemistry between Tuck and Paget is amazing with how both guitarists utilize their talents to create endless insanity. “My Reverie” is a great example of how Tuck and Page have not lost their touch as musicians.

Heart-stopping “Can’t Escape The Waves” is a composition filled with righteous bass guitar playing from Mathias. The best part is feeling the vibrations because the deep rumbles bring excitement, and throughout this entire piece, Mathias’s guitar skills stay on a steady musical flow that draws in more insanity with each riff. Mathias blows minds on “Can’t Escape The Waves” with epic bass guitar playing.

Maddening “Bastards” is a hit that has killer drum playing from Bowld. In the beginning, the solid noise of hard drum beats welcomes listeners to the band’s dark world. Throughout the entire composition, Bowld’s drum beats are extremely catchy, and the musical tempo stays on a rhythmic flow. “Bastards” is a fun one that has Bowld stealing the show with his solid drum performance.

The closing song, “Death By a Thousand Cuts,” ends Bullet For My Valentine on a high note. As a whole, the noises from the instrumentation and vocals show how much the band has grown through their music. The guitar and drum playing lights the atmosphere with sharp riffs and beats while Tuck uses his authoritative voice to express himself to those who are listening. “Death By a Thousand Cuts” is a great tune that has the band playing their hearts out.

Bullet For My Valentine is back with Bullet For My Valentine, and the music signals how the band is not going anywhere anytime soon.
