The Infamous Stringdusters have announced their new album Toward the Fray which is set to release this coming year on February 18. The announcement came soon after the group hosted the International Blue Grass Music Association Awards on September 30 in which the band’s own Jeremy Garret took home Instrumental Recording of the Year for his part in a Jon Weisberger-produced performance of the iconic track “Ground Speed” by Earl Scruggs.
The Stringdusters’ forthcoming album follows their previous release, A Tribute to Bill Monroe, and is said to be their first studio album of all original material since their 2019 project, Rise Sun.
“It’s been fun to explore a little bit of The Dusters’ darker side for this album,” said band member Andy Hall in a statement. “Sometimes the times call for some serious reflection, and these songs really hit home. Get ready to go deep with us!”
Last year The Infamous Stringdusters took part in a tribute album for John Hartford called On the Road with their version of the track “Gentle on My Mind.” Revisit mxdwn’s coverage of the band’s 2017 release, Laws Of Gravity, which took home the 2018 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album.
