Rammstein’s Richard Kruspe Announces Solo Project Emigrate’s Fourth Album The Persistence Of Memory For November 2021 Release

Richard Kruspe of the Germany Heavy metal outfit Rammstein has announced his fourth album as the rock project Emigrate called The Persistence of Memory, which will be out on November 5. The Persistence of Memory takes its name from the iconic painting by Salvador Dali, which is one of the most famous surrealist paintings in popular culture.

Much like the art movement, “You Can’t Run Away” is equally perplexing, switching between eclectic black and white visuals which see Kruspe on a couch in a zebra pen, and on a swan boat and color video of the performer in a room filled with machines and on a motorcycle.  The track is standard rock affair, with simple rock progressions that build up to a catchy chorus led by Kruspe’s anthemic vocals and the instrumental’s sinister undertones. The album’s other single and music video “Freeze My Mind,” has a similar alternative rock style, which sees Kruspe in a room filled with mirrors.

Emigrate has been active since 2007, releasing their self-titled debut back in 2008, which was followed by Silent So Long in 2014. His most recent studio album release A Million Degrees came out in 2018, which built upon the sonic style and intimacy that Kruspe crafted with Silent So Long.

“I really want the freedom to collaborate with different people and to explore different kinds of music,” Kruspe explained regarding A Million Degrees, “to express myself as both a writer and a singer away from deadlines, timelines and other such restrictions. The idea is to keep experimenting and to keep challenging myself. Plus, Emigrate works in an organic way, so musicians can come and go, and it’s still okay, it’s positive…”
