Michael Milosh, frontman of Rhye, has been accused of alleged abuse and grooming by his actress ex-wife, Alexa Nikolas via The AV Club. The report claims that Milosh allegedly “utilized his power of authority and seniority over [Nikolas], as well as years of sexual grooming of [Nikolas] as a minor child, to manipulate her into trusting him.”
In the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Milosh was accused of sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, violation of California’s Tom Bane Civil Rights Act, and negligence. Karen Menzies of Gibbs Law Group, an attorney for Nikolas said, “We continue to see predators in the music industry use their celebrity and influence to target women, especially underage girls. In many cases, management companies, record labels and promoters turn a blind eye, and even enable or participate to protect their financial interests and investment.”
No comment was made by Milosh’s representative. Similar statements had been made public by Nikolas on Instagram back in March which Milosh had denied in his own statement.
In Rhye’s fourth album, Jetlag Milosh used recordings of him and Nikolas having sex, including one point where he allegedly tried to have anal sex with her and she refused. At some point in the Jetlag release party he didn’t disclose that he allegedly got Nikolas highly intoxicated and incapable of refusing. According to the lawsuit, “Nikolas’ own mother left the party in disgust.”
People present at the party came from labels including, Innovative Leisure, Polydor, Loma Vista, the publicity firm Biz3 and KCRW Public Radio. The lawsuit alleges that they had “prior knowledge of the foundation of the deceitful relationship which was rooted in childhood sexual assault. On information and belief, these industry professionals lauded Milosh in his ‘art’ with reckless disregard to the severe psychological damage suffered by Nikolas.”
