Marissa Nadler Announces New Album The Path of the Clouds for October 2021 Release, Shares Moving Track “Bessie, Did You Make It?”

Marissa Nadler has just announced that she will be releasing her latest album The Path Of The Clouds, on October 29th via Sacred Bones & Bella Union. The first single “Bessie, Did You Make It?” haunts the ears as we listen to the spin on a murder ballad with the haunting guitar and echo-y voice. Set in the desolation of nature, we can truly feel the longing for Bessie to make it as she spins the tale of two lovers in a toxic relationship.

Listen to “Bessie, Did You Make It?” and watch the video here:

Unlike “Bessie, Did You Make It?” the rest of the album will center around the piano, which Nadler picked up during the pandemic. This may mean a new era of music for the musician, whose music has primarily focused on the more traditional guitar before this. We can look forward to many collaborations such as Jesse Chandler from Midlake and Amber Webber from Black Mountain. This release comes after three years without a Marissa Nadler solo album, although she has released music with artists like John Cale and Mary Lattimore, and an album with Stephen Brodsky in 2019, her last solo release with the 2018 album For My Crimes.

Check out more of Marissa Nadler’s music, like the collection of quarantine covers she released Bandcamp, and her single “Mr.Blue” with Nicole Atkins.
