Electronic Dance Music production company Insomniac have curated two weekends of incredible dance music acts to celebrate the grand re-opening of famed Los Angeles Nightclubs Exchange LA and Academy LA. These DTLA and Hollywood nightlife destinations are open for hosting full-scale events for the first time in over 15 months, and will host world-class electronic dance music DJs and performers in the coming days. The weekend will culminate in SoCal’s hottest daytime soiree, Day Trip at the Patio at Academy LA. Hollywood’s vibrant nightclub, Academy LA will host JSTJR on June 25, and Steve Aoki on June 26. Mikey Lion and Friends Lubelski, Alyssa Marie, Illdya and Jackson Englund will bring Day Trip to the Patio at Academy LA on Sunday, June 27.
New England-bred artist JSTJR is hailed as the US ambassador of Buraka Som Sistema’s zouk bass movement in America. He brings regional sounds from across the globe and blends them with hip-hop and experimental electronic production. With a recent performance at Insomniac’s Park ‘N Rave series, JSTJR is on a roll. Steve Aoki needs little introduction. The DJ and producer has released several Billboard-charting studio albums as well, notably Wonderland, which was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album. He’s also been named the most charitable EDM producer with the creation of his Steve Aoki Charitable Fund, which raises money for global humanitarian relief organizations and medical research. Mikey Lion has graced the stages of Lightning in a Bottle, Burning Man, and The Do LaB at Coachella, earning nods from Claude VonStroke, Jamie Jones and Green Velvet in the process. Lion and his signature top hat have developed a boisterous voice in the House and Techno scene with strong tribal, hip-hop, and psychedelic elements. His debut alum For the Love is available now.
