DAWES has announced a performance in Austin at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater on Saturday, December 11, with doors opening at 7 pm. This show is for all ages, with tickets being sold for $29.50 in advance and $32.50 at the door.
American folk-rock band DAWES, formed from the band Simon Dawes, is comprised of brothers Taylor (guitars and vocals) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums), and with Wylie Gelber (bass) and Lee Pardini (keys). Dawes was created after the departure of co-songwriter Blake Mills when they were formally Simon Dawes. The band broke through with their sophomore album Nothing Is Wrong, which drew critical praise. They’ve continued to win accolades and commercial success, including topping the Billboard Americana/Folk Albums chart with 2015’s All Your Favorite Bands and 2016’s We’re All Gonna Die. Dawes also scored a number of Top Ten Adult Alternative Songs hits, including Things Happen (2015), When the Tequila Runs Out (2016), and Who Do You Think You’re Talking To?
DAWES has been described as being influenced by the shambling, romanticized Americana of the Band, and by the gentle acoustic style and rich vocal harmonies of the Laurel Canyon sound (Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell).
DAWES has released 7 studio albums since their formation which included the response of peaking at #18 on Billboards Top Rock Albums chart and #1 on Billboard’s Folk Albums chart and #4 on the Top Rock Albums chart.
