LA-based ork-pop group Lavender Diamond has unveiled their song, “Turn Around,” today via Petaluma Records. The song is a bonus track that will be included in the band’s re-release of their 2020 album, Now Is The Time.
The bonus track had not been included in the digital release of Now Is The Time, but was featured on CD and vinyl versions of the album. It’s unclear when the album will be re-released, but it’s available to be pre-saved on streaming services now.
Frontwoman of the band Becky Stark explains the song, saying “This song is about reversal – the experience of finding the end – of being in the free fall of loss and despair – and that end point being a beginning through the turning.” She goes on to reveal, “When we were making the record I didn’t think this song should be part of it, but sometime after we were finished I realized it was my favorite one. It had seemed so raw that I couldn’t bear it. But isn’t that the way? It can feel impossible to see the beauty in what is full of pain – but new joy can be created and found in the turn around.”

Simple yet dynamic, Starks’s hypnotic vocals meld with mellow piano and animated strings to create a fluid and optimistic track. Hopeful lyrics like “the world’s in your hands” and “in your heart lives a song,” tell a story of finding beauty in pain.
Prior to releasing Now Is The Time in December of 2020, the group’s most recent work was their 2012 LP, Incorruptible Heart. They released music video for a single on the album titled “Light My Way,” in November of 2012. In May of 2018, Lavender Diamond returned from their eight-year hiatus to release the first single from Now Is The Time, “Look Through The Window.”
