In a series of posts on Instagram, an anonymous young man has accused Saves the Day singer Chris Conley of emotional abuse. Conley and Saves the Day’s label Equal Vision have responded to the accusations with separate notes that specifically address the allegations.
The unnamed man who goes by the name of your.bandsucks on Instragram alleges he met Conley when he was 12 years old and for the last few decades, their relationship has been described by both parties as an artist/fan dynamic. The accuser alleges that this changed in 2020 during the pandemic, when Conley allegedly began pushing for the two to start a relationship. The accuser provides several photos that corroborate his allegations, including a photo of a home studio that appears to have damage, screen shots from the accuser’s phone that appears to show Conley calling him upwards of 10 times per day, and screenshots of texts that appear to line up with what the accuser alleges. In response Conley has shared a message in which he essentially admits to the behavior described by his accuser, though he specifically mentions and denies allegations of grooming (of which we didn’t see reviewing the accusor’s messages).
Equal Vision Records take allegations of this nature very seriously. We are working diligently to uncover the truth behind what happened and our actions moving forward will reflect what we are able to find. In the meantime, we refer you to Chris Conley's statement provided below. pic.twitter.com/mbK8tOMvgR
