Katie Crutchfield is the American singer-songwriter and creator of the indie music project, Waxahatchee formed in 2010, getting the name from her hometown, Waxahatchee, Alabama. While also being a part of the band P.S. Eliot, she recorded a bedroom-recorded cassette album, American Weekend, in 2011 to which was then released on Don Giovanni Records in 2012. The album garnered positive reviews and was named the top album of 2012 by Dusted magazine. Her song Be Good from the album, was a song of the day on National Public Radio, and listed as one of the best 50 songs of 2012.
Crutchfield’s albums to follow just got more praise and attention for her intimate lyrics of storytelling and her cradling lullaby-like voice. After releasing 3 more albums, Cerulean Salt, Ivy Tripp, and Out in the Storm, which resulted in achievements like reaching #1 on the Official Record Store Chart, headlining a U.K. and U.S. tour, supporting Tegan And Sara, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Sleater Kinney, The New Pornographers, on tour, and many more, Crutchfield releases Saint Cloud, her 6th album. This album is the main focus of this tour, and which is “an intimate journey through the places she’s been, filled with the people she’s loved. Written immediately in the period following her decision to get sober, the album is an unflinching self-examination.”
