Bully, with openers Lightning Bug, has announced an all-ages show at Mohawk Austin (Outdoors) Friday, September 17. This show has tickets available for $20 with doors opening at 7 pm and the show commencing at 8 pm.
Bully is the solo project of guitarist, singer, and sound engineer Alicia Bognanno. Bognanno started out in the sound engineering world of music, earning her degree from Middle Tennessee State University in audio recording to then moving to Nashville to begin working as an engineer at Battle Tapes Recording and The Stone Fox Venue. Once she started recording demos of her own, she formed the band with Stewart Copeland (not the drummer from the police XD) After releasing their first single Milman in 2014, the band signed with Columbia Records label Startime International and released their debut album Feels Like in June in 2015.
Bully’s second album Losing was released under Sub Pop in 2017 and recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago. Both albums were met with positive reviews from critics and fans.
Bully’s most recent album, and the focus of this tour, SUGAREGG, is Bognanno’s first album of collaborating with other producers/engineers, including Grammy-winner John Congleton. Bognanno was ready to be free “from the weight of feeling like I had to prove to the world I was capable of engineering a record and wanted to be content knowing for myself what I can do without needing the approval of others to validate that.”
