New music from JAY-Z and Nipsey Hussle is here with their freshly released song “What It Feels Like.” The song hails from the film score of Shaka King’s “Judas and the Black Messiah,” which also includes contributions from many other prominent artists such as Lil Durk, Polo G, A$AP Rocky, and H.E.R.
The song begins with a repetition of echoing lyrics, “And this is what it feels like,” paired with attention-grabbing horns. The song rapidly progresses into a catchy beat and honest lyrics that describe the struggles and pleasures that come along with success as a rap artist. The song contains much sensual content and expresses that the artist is “Cruisin’ in thе 6, lookin’ at the proceeds of rap music on my wrist.”
The contribution of H.E.R. to the soundtrack was nominated for a Golden Globe. The song is called “Fight For You,” which the singer performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Actor Lakieth Stanfield elaborated to The Morning Culture about the upcoming film, and shared that the film was emotionally quite difficult for him, saying it was “one of the hardest roles I ever had to play.”
Nipsey Hussle was featured as part of Big Sean’s performance of “Deep Reverence,” which was nominated for 2021 Grammy.
JAY-Z was nominated to be 2021 inductee to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and his entertainment company Roc Nation is helping to produce a new series about the life of Muhammed Ali, called The Greatest.
