Drive up to the Drive-In OC at the City National Grove of Anaheim and see not one but two popular Columbian bands, La Sonora Dinamita and Sonora Tropicana on November 15. This show is presented by Nederlander Concerts and Viva! Presents and will follow Covid-19 safety guidelines. Tickets are priced for one car, so load up and get ready for a great night of Cumbia music at the Drive-In!
La Sonora Dinamita is one of the first Cumbia groups to reach international success and is credited with popularizing the genre throughout Latin America and the world. Their 1981 hit song “Mi Cucu” has been heard many times at parties and is a lot of fun to sing and dance to. While the band’s lineup has changed since their inception in 1950, they have always featured a strong female vocalist to accompany their ten-piece brass ensemble, including Margarita Vargas (la Diosa de La Cumbia), Mélida Yará (La India Meliyará), Vilma Díaz (La Diva de La Cumbia) and Susana Velasquez.
Sonora Tropicana adds a tropical flare to the classic Cumbia sound. The group has been around for 25 years, and been nominated for various awards, participated in TV programs, and performed before massive audiences. They have also won the Furia Musical Award for Best Tropical Group two years in a row.
Get ready to dance the night away to these Cumbia greats!
