Live Stream Review: Everything People Wanted, Billie Eilish Presents WHERE DO WE GO? The Live Stream

It’s no secret that Billie Eilish is a very talented, up and coming performer. On October 24th, Billie Eilish took to the live stream trend of 2020 with her “WHERE DO WE GO?” live stream concert. From the moment the very accomplished artist announced her plans for a live stream on Instagram, fans were more than excited to see her back performing again. Likewise, one could tell that Eilish was beside herself to perform again, from beginning to end.

Before the show got started, fans were already connecting with some special engagements from Billie Eilish. There was some trivia and guests, as well as her dog making an appearance. During a rehearsal, Eilish and her team shot some extra footage for the fans. She went around to different members of her crew and just talked to them and introduced their role on her team. She thanked them and talked to them about different performing experiences. It was very laid back and people could tell they all enjoyed their jobs and liked working with Billie Eilish. It’s so easy to like her, she’s so chill and calm, and her concert was just the same. As an extra treat for fans, there was a little bit of exclusive footage before the show from Eilish’s upcoming documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry

Fans gathered from places all around the globe for this stream. Some places were New York, California, Texas, Australia, Spain and Italy. Fans came together in the chat and talked about some of their favorite songs, and even just their favorite things about Eilish. The chat was always flooded with green and black hearts from the moment the concert started, and even after it ended.

This concert was a simple set with Eilish in the middle of a giant room that was always filled and flooded with top-notch illusions and imagery. Audience left, Billie Eilish was joined by her talented musician and singer/songwriter brother Finneas O’Connell with a keyboard, a mic and his bass guitar. Audience right, sat her drummer Andrew Marshall at his drum kit. The visuals were unmatched as this performance played out so effortlessly.

Starting off the show, she performed her 2019 hit “bury a friend” from the album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? This catchy song was an instant thrill for fans as they were finally seeing their idol perform a chill song with bass drops and heavy beats. The drum kicks were an added feature to most songs and they really enhanced the sound of each song. Eilish encouraged everyone to clap along “even from home!” After the song ended, there were actually a few cheers. She introduced her brother and drummer, and also mentioned that those mysterious cheers were that of her crew.

Moving through the show, she slowed it down a touch with a beautiful and soulful rendition of “i love you,” from the same album as the previous song. This is when the visuals were taken to another level. At times, people never really knew how big the room actually was. For the song, she was in a galaxy setting with stars glistening around her. It was very calming and matched perfectly with her slower and more intense song.

A song later, the visual of a small spotlight circle popped up on the screen and fans were going wild in the chat. The next song was the 2020 song “No Time To Die” from the upcoming James Bond Movie, No Time To Die. Keeping with the traditional themes of a 007/ spy song, this was definitely a very soulful and charming tune that will fit so perfectly with the film. The resolving note of the song was a very ‘spy- like’ moment. The fans, once again, loving it!

Kicking it back up in tempo, Eilish performed “all the good girls go to hell” (WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?) introducing it with “where are all my good girls out there?” In between each song, she did engage and talk to the audience, and she even encouraged her fans to vote. She explained how much she loves what she’s doing, and this song seemed like a fan favorite, as they were typing the words to the song in the chat faster than she could sing them.

Slowing it back down and showing how easily she can switch between tempos, Eilish sang the 2019 single “everything I wanted.” This song turned into a tribute to her fans. For this song, the stunning visual effect was that of her fans in boxes projected onto the walls all around the room. They were singing along, dancing and just vibing. Billie Eilish took the time to thank them and tell them how important they are. This song, while on the slower side, was again enhanced with Marshall’s drumming. This kept it intense, but light at the same time.

Fading from the visual of fans in their boxes on screen, they began to float up and mix around into rain drops. This visual illusion was a little foreshadowing into her next song—the 2020 single, “my future.” The background visuals had the same effects as the music video. This song showcases her incredible talents by having both the slower ballad tempos and faster livelier tempos. Following her style and pattern, the resolving notes were just as gorgeous to listen to.

Just before closing out the concert, Billie Eilish thanked her team again and most importantly her fans. She explained how much she loved having everyone there and even if it was virtual, she “hopes that everyone is staying safe and drinking water!” She had such a likeable stage presence and she even told the virtual audience she was sad she only had one song left. Closing out the show, Billie Eilish ended with the 2019 hit, “bad guy” (WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?). Closing on a high note, her energy throughout the show was high and mighty.

Overall, the show was entertaining, visually pleasing and chill at the same time. Billie Eilish is a cool and extremely talented performer with intense illusions to accompany her music. Not only that, but she has a great and supportive team of people helping her make these things happen. It’s clear that she’s ready to get back to the stage and performing for fans as soon as she can. With her final bow, green and black hearts flew through the chat. This was “everything they wanted!”
