See Radiohead Guitarist Ed O’Brien Live at the Theatre at Ace Hotel 8/10/21

Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien (aka EOB) will be heading on an international tour next year with final stops in southern CA: One at the ornate Theatre at Ace Hotel on August 10 and finally at Ohana Fest in Dana Point. His tour was initially scheduled to begin this February, but has been pushed back one year due to Covid-19. The tour is in support of EOB’s debut solo release Earth. He’s partnering with the environmental nonprofit, REVERB.org with the goal of making the upcoming EOB tour dates “climate-positive” — neutralizing more greenhouse gas emissions than those being produced by the tour, and will donate $2 per picket to REVERB’s unCHANGEit campaign to help fight climate change.

Earth was written over a five-year span during any breaks from making and touring for A Moon Shaped Pool with Radiohead. The album was inspired by his time in Brazil and attending Carnevale, in which he described himself having  a “musical eureka moment.” The album features elements of ambient and house music with moments of delicate folk sounds. The album features contributions from folk singer Laura Marling, Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood. Fun fact: in 2010, Rolling Stone names O’Brien the 59th greatest guitar player of all time.

Check out EOB’s solo album and get lost in a folky trance… if you’re digging it, grab your tickets to see him at the stunning Theatre at Ace Hotel next year!
