Lyrical and sublime, Nada Surf is back and coming to Chicago to bring you their poetic brand alternative and pop-rock. In 1992 Nada Surf was formed by longtime friends Mathew Caws and Daniel Lorca, who had been a part of several bands together but wanted to form their own project. They quickly made a name for themselves in the New York Indie scene, and abroad in Europe. The nature of Nada Surf’s lyrics are clever and fun, never getting too cynical and also spending time trying to get in touch with the bigger picture and abstract concepts that make up humanity.
Nada Surf first broke waves in the New York Scene which got them discovered by Elektra Records and helped them to collaborate with Weezer producer Ric Ocasek. What followed was their debut album High/Low which contained their single Popular which was a smash hit. Their following album The Proximity Effect caused some tension between them and their record label, which caused them to leave, however, they now have full control over their music. Their self produced album Let Go was a critical success and popular in America and abroad.
Nada Surf’s newest album, Never Not Together, came out at the beginning of this year and features their single So Much Love which acts as a beacon of musical hope in this era. Be sure to see them perform Never Not Together live next year!
