You’d Be an ‘American Idiot’ to Not See Green Day at Oracle Park on 7/20/21

Green Day is an iconic American rock band that was formed in the East Bay region of the Bay Area in 1987. For much of their career, Green Day has remained a trio with lead vocalist & guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist & backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt have been old friends for a very long time, originally starting a band in their early teens called Sweet Children together in early 1987. However, after performing live a few times, the talent of this band caught the eye of Larry Livermore, who signed the band almost immediately to his record label. Soon after, the band released their first EP, 1,000 Hours, in 1989. After several name changes, Sweet Children eventually became their most famous moniker, Green Day, and the rest was basically history. Thirteen albums, 75 million records, five Grammy Awards, a Broadway adaptation, two Tony Awards, and many other accolades later, Green Day has been credited as one of the few punk bands to reignite mainstream American interest in punk rock.

Green Day has attributed much influence to the Kinks, the Who, the Ramones, and Cheap Trick for their music. As important punk rock revivalists, it’s safe to say that Green Day is one of the most important American bands to date and has been a household name for decades. Even more than that, you’ll be able to see Green Day in all its glory at Oracle Park on July 20th in the year 2021. Be sure to catch Green Day at Oracle Park and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
