They Might Be Giants had initially planned on hitting the road and going on tour in 2020, but, like most tours, theirs has been rescheduled to 2021. The indie/alt-rock giants will make a stop at The Wiltern in Los Angeles on June 4, 2021. For this performance, the band will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album that put the band on the map, Flood, by performing the album in its entirety. The show-stopping Curt Ramm will join the band on trumpet and they’ll also perform some of their best hits and brand new songs.
They Might Be Giants consist of founding members John Flansburgh and John Linnell and backing members Dan Miller (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Danny Weinkauf (bass guitar, keyboards) and Marty Beller (drums, percussion). They began their journey in 1982, performing under the moniker El Grupo De Rock and Roll. They soon after adopted their new name from the 1971 film, They Might Be Giants and never looked back.
TMBG have experienced tremendous success with their unique brand of experimental indie rock. They’re known for their humorous lyrics and for incorporating unconventional instruments in their sound. Over their career, TMBG have released a total of 22 albums and have won two Grammy Awards. Their 1990 album Flood has been certified platinum and had some of the highest charting singles of the year as well. They’ve also released several children’s albums including Here Come the ABCs, Here Come the 123s, and Here Comes Science, which have all been certified gold. They were even nominated for a Tony Award for Best Original Score Written for the Theatre for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.
