The Flaming Lips have a new album coming out on September 11, American Head, which will be followed up with an International tour starting early next year. As promoted by 89.9 KCRW, they’ll be stopping in Los Angeles at The Wiltern of January 25, 2021, so you’ll have a chance to dive into their new album before seeing them live. They’ve recently teased the dreamy, ballad-esque single “Will You Return / When You Come Down,” among others on streaming sites, which should inspire you to pick up your tickets ASAP.

The Flaming Lips are known for their over-the-top performances, often featuring frontman Wayne Coyne crowdsurfing in a clear hamster ball at some point during the show. Seeing them perform their 1999 breakthrough album The Soft Bulletin last year at Desert Daze did not disappoint, so it’s safe to say their Wiltern show will be a real treat.

The band are known for their experimental yet accessible sound and writing style, and it’s a lot of fun pouring through their extensive discography. Several of their albums have won Grammy Awards as well as Album of the Year in publications, making them one of the most beloved bands in the alternative rock world. They’ve also collaborated with artists including pop star Miley Cyrus on her experimental album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz. They also released an album earlier this year with Deap Valley titled Deap Lips, appropriately. They’ve also released collaborations with Neon Indian, Henry Rollins and Lightning Bolt, among others.

Grab your tickets to see The Flaming Lips with opening act Particle Kid and start pouring through and revisiting their vast, incredible discography.
