Electro-Pop Duo Purity Ring Play The Wiltern 5/19/21

Canadian electro-pop duo Purity Ring were scheduled to head on tour this Fall in support of their new album Womb. Their Fall 2020 international tour dates have been postponed, and they’re scheduled to pick up their tour de womb in the US in Spring 2021, with Los Angeles date May 19, 2021 at The Wiltern. If it’s anything like their past performances, their tour de womb should be pretty special, complete with a custom-built audio-visual light setup.

Purity Ring were formed in 2010 and consists of vocalist Megan James and multi-instrumentalist/producer Corin Roddick. Their debut album Shrines was released in 2012 to critical acclaim as a “future-pop” album with adark, atmospheric synths featuring trip-hop elements and macabre lyrics. I remember discovering Shrines in 2013 and thinking “wow, this is really cool and unlike anything I’ve heard before.”

Since Shrines, Purity Ring have veered more on the pop side with their 2015 release Another Reality, and even more so with their latest release, Womb, which features backing vocals from Mew singer Jonas Bjerre. The duo have collaborated with artists like Danny Brown and also co-wrote and produced three songs on Katy Perry’s 2017 album Witness.

Experience the tour de womb for yourself at the Wiltern and transport yourself to the future of pop music.
