Tegan and Sara have released the music video for their song, “I Know I’m Not The Only One.” The track comes as part of their YouTube special documentary series, with the music video being directed by Emma Higgins and featuring appearances from local Vancouver artists.

Beginning with both Tegan and Sara taking pictures as if preparing for a school photo, pictures of them wearing the same outfit appearing briefly on the screen side them. The track lends an upbeat sound that could fit into a teen movie, Tegan and Sara belting the lyrics of how “they’re not the only one.” Kimmortal, Dan Mangan, Louise Burns and various Vancouver artists join Tegan and Sara to sit for picture day in a high school gymnasium, their high school yearbook photos joining them as the camera flashes.

“I Know I’m Not The Only One” keeps Tegan and Sara’s classic bouncing electronic sound, their voices giving a slower contrast as they sing the lyrics, “Dragging you down with backflips, do you even care?/ Keep a secret for me, something I can’t share?/ I wonder if someday we’ll just be a memory?/ If we go off the track, will you wait for me?” The end of the song has everyone singing the final lyrics as they shout and dance, before credits at the end of the video have each participant sitting and giving their high school selves advice. Tegan and Sara say that they know their younger selves would be thrilled “to be playing something a little bigger than a garage.”

The music video appeared in Tegan and Sara’s video special, the duo saying they were inspired to create the album Hey, I’m Just Like You after working on their book High School, which detailed the two attending high school together and playing in a garage band. The songs which appear on Hey, I’m Just Like You had been written when the two were in high school. Tegan and Sara also showed footage of the two playing together from when they were in high school prior to premiering the music video.
