See ‘Love Survive’ with Michael Nau at Cafe du Nord on 7/30/20

Michael Nau, best known as the lead singer of the Cotton Jones band, is a popular singer-songwriter pioneering the space between folk, psychedelic, and vintage pop. He first began to record under his own name in 2016, releasing a few solo works before releasing Michael Nau & the Mighty Thread in 2018 and Less Ready to Go in 2019. Throughout his releases, Michael Nau has incorporated a number of different influences into his works including elements of reggae, folk, indie, and pop while also featuring many of his Cotton Jones band members and other notable individuals. What began as tracks composed in private and intimate moments soon became a solo career after the success of those releases, launching Michael Nau out in the music industry as a solo artist for the first time.

“They’re the seed”, Nau states. “These recordings are essentially the writing of the songs…written and recorded at the same time. There’s something exciting about them for that reason. It feels magical any time the start of a song arrives, let alone gets ‘finished’”. However, these “bare bones” are something else entirely despite how simple and stripped they may seem. These records are forces to be reckoned with in all of their simplicity. Be sure to see these records and Michael Nau live at the Cafe du Nord on July 30th in the year 2020.
