Picture this: you’re in the middle of the desert, at the final confrontation of a 70s action film. That’s what it feels like to listen to The Budos Band, an instrumental ensemble of nine musicians, who have mastered wielding trumpets, saxophones, bongos, and electric guitars. The Budos Band takes inspiration from 70s psychedelia and soul, while combining it with an unexpected touch of metal, which creates an aggressive funky sound, sure to move anyone from idleness. The band originated from a jam session in New York hosted by the band Antibalas, some participants formed The Budos Band and have been playing ever since.
The Budos Band started producing their original music with their Self titled album, The Budos Band. Following was their collection of other self titled albums 1-4. They broke the naming streak with their album, Burnt Offering in 2014, which started to evolve their music with incorporated metal influence along with their 70s psychedelic soul, referencing the past while merging genres. After taking a break in 2016, the band reformed in 2019 to create their newest record, The Budos Band V, which has a cinematic, intense fresh funk feeling.
Be sure to experience the boisterous sound of The Budos Band live!
