With fast paced riffs, and catchy lyrics, HUNNY feels reminiscent of late 90s punk and of 2000s skater rock. Lead singer Jason Yager in particular performs with gusto that elicit feelings of the Sadie Hawkins Dance, and Stacy’s Mom vocal style. However, the band twists things up by including synths and electronic sound side by side with classic guitar, bass, and drums. Forming in 2014, HUNNY is fundamentally Californian, members of the band literally living in the same neighborhood as other growing artists in the area, playing with other musicians and performing their debut gig in a garage.
After garnering immediate popularity with their first gig, HUNNY set out and released their first single, Cry For Me, in 2015. In 2017, HUNNY self released their first EP Windows I, and after signing on with Epitaph Records, released Windows II. Last year the band released their first full-length studio album, Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes., which saw a move away from their more abstract punk style, into catchy lyrics that people could attach to while singing along live at their shows, as well as getting more experimental with their instrumental production.
HUNNY is right for anyone who loves to actively participate in their enjoyment of a live performance. Join the mosh, crowd surf, and sing along with HUNNY live.
