Olafur Arnalds is best known for being a popular Icelandic multi-instrumentalist and producer. Also known as the former drummer for hardcore metal bands like Fighting Shit and Celestine, Arnalds has made a name for himself as a solo experimental instrumentalist. Having been exposed to music from a young age when his grandmother introduced Chopin, Arnalds first released his debut solo album, Eulogy for Evolution, in 2007. It was later followed by an EP release called Variations of Static. Since then, Arnalds has released three more albums and one more EP, been featured in film and television soundtracks, and more.
Arnalds is particularly popular for his ability to mix strings and piano with different loops and beats, creating a unique sound that can be best described as ambient or electronic pop. He also recognizes a variety of influences that range from classical composers to other more contemporary artists. On November 11th, however, Bay Area fans will get to see Olafur Arnalds live at The Warfield. Be sure to catch him there and continue to follow MXDWN for all your music updates.
