English rock band Kasabian and Tom Meighan, who served as the group’s frontman, have parted ways “by mutual consent” according to a press statement sent by the group. Meighan is going to reportedly work on “personal issues that have affected his behaviour,” although the statement adds that the group will not be commenting further on this matter.
“Kasabian have announced today that Tom Meighan is stepping down from the band by mutual consent,” the statement from the group reads. “Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behaviour for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. We will not be commenting further.”
The BBC reports that Meighan recently held discussion with Sky News regarding work an upcoming Kasabian album, meaning that his latest dismissal may have been abrupt. The outlet reports that their is no indication whether the band will continue without Meighan.
The outfit originally formed in Leicester back in the late 1990s, before releasing their self-titled debut album seven years later. They released a total of six studio albums since that debut, with their most recent release For Crying Out Loud coming out in 2017.
While the band have been largely absent from the US Billboard Charts, they have achieved commercial success in their native UK, with five of their albums topping those charts. The band released a music video for “III Ray (The King),” featuring Lena Headey has her Game of Thrones character Cersei back in 2017.
