Based in Montreal, TOPS is a Canadian rock band composed of Jane Penny, David Carriere, Riley Fleck, and Marta Cikojevic. The collective first formed in 2011 after the disbandment of the synth-pop group Silly Kissers, of which Jane Penny, David Carriere, and Thom Gillies were members. TOPS first released their debut album, Tender Opposites, in 2012 to great acclaim and positive reviews. Since then, TOPS has released four albums, including one called I Feel Alive in 2020. TOPS is very well-known in the Canadian indie scene and amongst indie music lovers alike. Their most recent album, I Feel Alive, was produced by Penny and Carriere and released on TOPS’ newly-created label, Musique TOPS.
On February 14th next year in 2021, TOPS will be coming to SF’s historic The Independent venue. The Independent first opened in 2004 and has seen a diverse group of musicians, from EDM artists to comedians. The venue has seen the likes of Bon Iver, John Legend, and even Dave Chappelle. On February 14th, however, TOPS, will grace the stage of The Independent to perform for all of their Bay Area fans.
