Three-time Latin Grammy Award winner Carla Morrison will join the LA Phil in a majestic performance at the stunning Walt Disney Concert Hall on February 6, 2021. The concert will be featured in the upcoming LA Phil season entitled “America: The Stories We Tell.”
Originally from Tecate, Baja California, Morrison got her start performing in indie rock bands, mostly in Phoenix before branching out on her own in 2009. She returned home to Baja and started on her Debut EP, Aprendiendo a Aprender. Her debut full-length arrived one year later, entitled Mientras Tu Dormias and was produced by Natalia Lafourcade. While she was garnering many fans in Mexico, the arrival of 2015’s Amor Supremo brought her into global fandom. Although she sings in Spanish, her music has the unique ability to cut across languages and make the listener understand through her expressive performance and writing.
Morrison performed an intimate show for her fans just last year at a local record store in Long Beach, CA called Fingerprints Music. The show was 100% sold out with fans traveling all the way from Mexico to see her. I was able to see her perform there and her vulnerability in her singing and songwriting was just incredible. It’s quite a juxtaposition to see her earn her place performing alongside the LA Phil. This performance at Disney Hall will truly be something special.
