Like many females I know around my age, ’90s singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette had a huge impact on our lives. She taught us to release our angst by singing along to songs about heartbreaks we had yet to experience, and we received looks of disapproval from our mothers when the occasional curse word popped up on our cassettes. Her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill turned 25 this year and songs like “You Oughta Know” are still go-tos when it was okay to go out for karaoke. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this masterpiece, Morissette announced a tour initially scheduled for 2020. The tour has been pushed one year due to Covid-19, and the powerhouse trio of ’90s alt-rock acts are making a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on June 11, 2021.
Her tour rescheduling announcement came just a few days ago, when Morissette also revealed details for a deluxe reissue of her Jagged Little Pill album. The reissue is set to be released in a couple days on June 26, and will feature a new acoustic live album capturing Morissette’s performance at Shepherd’s Bush in March 2020, including a preview of her performance of “Ironic.”
Additionally, her 4k remastered videos of songs from Jagged Little Pill are scheduled to be released on her YouTube channel also starting on the 26th. Morissette is also offering a free digital screening of the out-of-print Jagged Little Pill Live film from 1997. The film will also stream on her YouTube on June 28, 9:30 a.m. Pacific.
While this upcoming performance is a celebration of the past, Morissette continues to work on new music. She has plans to release a new album on July 31 called Such Pretty Forks in the Road.
Come out on June 11 and celebrate the past and future of these ’90s female icons! I know I wouldn’t miss it.
