Lee Mack Ritenour is an American jazz guitarist with a career that has spanned almost fifty years. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Lee Ritenour has held a passion for music from a very young age. At eight years old, he began playing the guitar and later decided to pursue a musical career. Lee also studied classical guitar at the University of Southern California. His first album was released in 1976, an album he titled First Course, which was then followed by Captain’s Fingers, The Captain’s Journey, and Feel the Night. Since the release of his first album, Lee has garnered a Grammy Award, nineteen Grammy Award nominations, and more. Lee Ritenour also has been featured in many records and albums as supporting guitar and more.
In the present, Lee and keyboardist Bob James formed the group Fourplay, but he later left and was replaced by Larry Carlton. Lee also released 6 String Theory to celebrate his fifty-year career in 2010. However, on September 10th, Bay Area fans will be able to see Lee Ritenour celebrate live at Yoshi’s Oakland Jazz Club.
