The Growlers Natural Affair Tour comes to the Ventura Theater 12/13

LA/OC’s The Growlers have established a larger-than-life reputation for themselves, especially in the local indie scene. Over the years, they’ve successfully filled arena-seized shows in their hometowns, and put on some of the best local festivals as well. This December, they’re bringing their Natural Affair Tour to the Ventura Theater on the 13th. Their 2020 tour was initially scheduled to start this summer, but due to Covid-19 has been postponed to this fall.

The Growlers were founded in 2006 in Dana Point by singer Brooks Nielsen and guitarist Matt Taylor. Since then, they have produced seven psych rock albums, with their fifth studio album Studio Club produced by the Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. Their annual festival Beach Goth started at the OC Observatory, until it was moved to Los Angeles following a lawsuit over the Beach Goth name. In the Beach Goth heydays, the lineup featured huge indie names including Bon Iver, James Blake, King Krule, the Butthole Surfers and many more. Julian Casablancas has also headlined several Beach Goth events, along with The Growlers.

Their latest album Natural Affair was released in 2019, and was self-produced. In this album, The Growlers “move their DIY aesthetic into an even sturdier, synthier, dancier sound, bolstered by Nielsen’s finest lyrics to date: social commentary, rhymes, and ruminations on the pleasures (and perils) of modern love.”

The Growlers are always a spectacle of an act, so sing along with Nielsen’s raspy vocals to their catchiest songs while enjoying their crowd banter!
