Peter, Bjorn and John have been around now for nearly two decades and eight albums. The Swedish trio formed in 1999 and was met with International success following the release of their 2006 release Writer’s Block. Their single “Young Folks” peaked at number 13 in the UK and number 22 on the US alternative charts.
After touring following the release of their first successful album, the indie veterans produced instrumental albums including Seaside Rock and Living Thing, the band’s darker, more experimental fourth full-length album. They returned to their melodic pop roots with the album Gimme Some, and their second hit single “Second Chance” was even featured in sitcoms and commercials. The trio have proven they can write catchy hit songs, so their eighth studio album Darker Days has been described to “showcase a softer and more introspective side of the band,” as the album title suggests. This past March, they released Endless Dream, their ninth studio album. This followed a release of live session tracks from their label, INGRID, as well as a new EP, so it’s clear that the trio are still just as inspired as they were 20 years ago.
They’re kicking off their tour here in LA at the Teragram Ballroom on September 21. Rising indie outfit Methyl Ethel will support them on tour. Young or old, come see what all the fuss is about!
