Jonathan Ellington, who goes by the stage name “Jelly” Ellington, is a guitarist/singer/songwriter from the mountainous city of Asheville, North Carolina and is now based out of the live music capital of the world. Ellington’s funky guitar riffs are reminiscent of the classic rock style of the 60s and 70s and his soulful vocals bring his music to life with passion. The savvy musician has easily made a home for himself in Austin, being voted into the Top 10 “Best Guitarists” in the Austin Chronicle in both 2018 and 2019. On top of that, Ellington even teaches music at Fusion Austin and shares his passion for the subject with students on the same track as he is, all while remaining an active performer in the Austin music scene.
Jelly Ellington has a style all of his own, throwing out funky guitar riffs reminiscent of classic rock from the 60s and 70s and soulful vocals, filling his music with bluesy rock & roll vibes. On his latest four-track EP Butterfly, Ellington blends jazz and funk guitar with electronic elements and proves himself to be a unique and thriving independent artist and what better place to grow as a musician than here in Austin? It will be exciting to see where he goes next!
Jelly Ellington will be playing a show at Moontower Saloon on Friday, July 3rd at 8:00pm. You can RSVP now by clicking the link at the bottom of the page!
