The eclectic duo of musician/producer Dave Sitek, of Brooklyn, New York-based rock collective TV on the Radio fame, and Sweden born/Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and producer Daniel Ledisnky make up their newly formed group, The Neverly Boys. Together Sitek and Ledisnky, according to a press release, “…announced their new band THE NEVERLY BOYS and the debut album Dark Side Of Everything. The album was written, produced and recorded by the two. Dark Side Of Everything is available now via Alchemy Recordings in partnership with BMG Recordings at all DSPs and streaming services.”
The duo recently released their latest single “Never Come Down” along with its accompanied music video. Both the track and its music video are a surreal and psychedelic sonic and visual conundrum. The track is an amalgamation of sounds that range from rock, hip hop and electronic music. The melody is a steady rocking groove that is both infectious and entrancing.
The video centers around a man first dressed as a cowboy then transitions to an astronaut suit and a seductive looking woman donning a wig and futuristic shades. The video features both tie dye and black and white visuals making for a trippy experience. According to the aforementioned press release, “Dark Side Of Everything includes the extraordinary new single, “Never Come Down,” joined by a compelling psychedelic feverish companion video, directed by Los Angeles-based photographer/filmmaker Mason Poole and streaming now via YouTube.”
Before Sitek and Ledisnky teamed up to form The Neverly Boys, both entities share impressive laundry lists of production credits. According to the aforementioned press release, “Dave Sitek is a core member of TV on The Radio as well as a Los Angeles-based producer and songwriter equally well known for his work with Beyoncé & Jay-Z, Weezer, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, to name but a few. Daniel Ledinsky left his native Sweden just over a decade ago, making a new home in Los Angeles where he earned a reputation as a crafty singer, songwriter, and producer through his own work – including the worldwide #1 anthem, “DonaldTrumpMakesMeWannaSmokeCrack” – and collaborations with such diverse artists as Carly Rae Jepsen, Tove Lo, Refused, and Cee Lo Green.”
The Neverly Boys spoke collectively about their collaborative album and what their fans should take away from listening to Dark Side Of Everything, saying:
“If you can manage to cultivate stillness in the midst of the hustle, THE NEVERLY BOYS would like to present to you a human story. An honest story about finding your place in the world. With all of its glory and all of its drama, they seek to give a voice to the unknown, the magic, the heartbreaks and the aspirations. They hope you find comfort in their songs…Please listen to the album. It’s important. Now, more than ever.”
